Edmund Chan has a twin passion in ministry — expository preaching and leadership mentoring. His insightful biblical teachings have made him a sought-after speaker in different major cities around the world.

After leading as the Senior Pastor of Covenant Evangelical Free Church (CEFC) for 25 years, Edmund implemented a successful leadership-succession plan in January 2012. Now as the Leadership Mentor of CEFC as well as Founder of Global Alliance of Intentional Disciple Making Churches (Global Alliance IDMC), he continues to mentor top-level leaders within Singapore and beyond. These include CEOs, senior pastors and denominational leaders, theological educators as well as national and regional directors of para-church organisations.

Edmund has written and published several books, including Growing Deep in God (2002); Mentoring Paradigms (2008); Growing Deep In Faith (2010); Cultivating Your Inner Life (2011); A Certain Kind (2013), Radical Discipleship (2014), Life & Legacy (2015), Discipleship Missions (2016), Faith & Fire (2018) and Grace & Glory (2021).

Edmund is married to Ann, who actively ministers alongside him around the world. They have two lovely daughters, Amanda and Belicia.

Ann Chan ministers actively alongside her husband, Rev. Edmund Chan, Leadership Mentor of Covenant Evangelical Free Church (Covenant EFC), championing the Intentional Disciple Making Churches (IDMC) vision globally.

A gifted leader and teacher, she has pioneered many of Covenant EFC’s ministries, including the Women-in-Covenant (WiC) ministry and the Breakthrough Weekends. As part of the WiC ministry, she delivers a series of talks called “Women-for-Women” (W4W).  She has also spoken in multiple IDMC conferences. With her vast experience, her sessions have ministered to many in and outside of Covenant EFC and continues to be well-received.

No stranger to pain and suffering, she demonstrates deep empathy and offers wise counsel to those who have approached her. She co-authored the Wholeness in Christ curriculum with several others, which has benefitted many women who desire wholeness and healing in their lives.

An educator by training, Ann was an education officer for seven years. She later became an Organisational Development Trainer, an Executive Coach cum Consultant as well as Managing Director of a HR consultancy firm. She left the corporate environment to join Covenant EFC as a staff member in 2005.

She has mentored, preached and taught in many countries, including Hong Kong, Australia, the United States and the United Kingdom. Together with her husband, she has co-written four discipleship books, Roots & Wings, Life & Legacy, Faith & Fire and the latest, Grace & Glory.

Ann graduated from the Singapore Bible College in 1987. In 1994, she obtained a Master of Arts degree in Christian Education (Honours) from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (USA).

Barney Lau

Barney Lau is a passionate leader and coaching mentor, with 20 years of corporate experience in Fortune 100 companies, and over 12 years of leadership experience with Covenant Evangelical Free Church (CEFC).

A strong calling led Barney to leave Microsoft Singapore as its Managing Director to enter full-time church ministry in 2008 with CEFC.

Under Barney’s leadership, Microsoft Singapore more than doubled its business in 3 years while growing expenses by less than 40%; was an award winning subsidiary within Microsoft worldwide; and raised its largest ever charitable donation of S$1M to the Singapore President’s Charity.

Barney worked in other multinational companies such as Cisco Systems, Lucent Technologies and Hewlett-Packard in a diversity of roles, in a Singapore and regional Asia capacities. He also served as elected Council/Board Members in professional and industry bodies such as the Singapore Computer Society and the Singapore IT Federation1 and as a member of Temasek Polytechnic’s School of IT’s advisory panel.

Barney Lau is an ordained minister presently serving as the Associate Director in the Global Alliances of Intentional Disciple-Making Churches. Previously, he served as an Associate Pastor in CEFC with oversight leadership for various ministries, and as the Overseer for the CEFC’s East Centre. As a member of CEFC senior leadership, he participated in the doubling of growth of her congregation and the tripling of the number of worship centres. Barney presently also serves as a Councillor and Vice-Chairman of the Biblical Graduate School of Theology (BGST) in Singapore.

Barney contributes actively in the corporate world. He is an Independent and Non-Executive Director and a committee chairman of SGX mainboard-listed IFS Capital Limited. He was an Independent Board Director and Chairman of the IT Committee of Jurong Health Services2 which manages the Ng Teng Fong General Hospital, Jurong Community Hospital and Jurong Medical Centre. He was an Independent Board Director of Integrated Healthcare Information Systems Pte. Ltd. Which manages all the IT systems of Singapore’s public healthcare and hospital system. He was a member of the Ministry of Health’s Healthcare IT Steering Committee overseeing Singapore’s long term strategic healthcare IT roadmap and investments.

Barney read his Master’s in Christian Studies in BGST. He graduated from Rutgers University (USA) with a Bachelor’s in Computer Science in 1990. He is a certified Learning and Performance Professional under the Singapore Workforce Skills Qualifications system, and currently undergoing the International Coaching Federation’s final Associate Certified Coach credentialing process.

He is married to his childhood buddy, Jessie, since 1993, with whom he has three adult and teenage children, Isabelle, Russell and Allyson.
